The trek

Kilimanjaro is the highest mountain in Africa and the highest single free-standing mountain above
sea level in the world: 5,895 metres (19,341 ft). This snow-capped peak of Africa is a dormant
volcano.
It is part of the Kilimanjaro National Park that houses among other animals, elephants, cape
buffaloes, and indigenous species such as the Kilimanjaro shrew and the chameleon Kinyongia
tavetana. The Tussock Grassland is an area on the slopes of Mount Kilimanjaro that contains many
unique species of vegetation.
Kilimanjaro requires minimum of 6 nights, 7 days on the mountain and a day in Arusha post the trek,
so one needs atleast 7 nights in Africa excluding travel. 2 days of African safari are highly
recommended, taking the total time required to 10 days.

Mid December to mid March June to mid October

Three months of dedicated training is required to prepare for Kilimanjaro for an active individual. The participants should focus on cardio and leg strengthening.

There are permanent toilet structures made on the mountain which are fairly clean and well-maintained.

Tarangire National Park and Ngorongoro Crater.

For the initial 3 days, one can comfortably hike in a T shirt (with a fleece if it gets chilly) and summer trek pants. For the summit day, one would require thick fleece lined shell pants and a full sleeved hiking layer, along with a fleece and a windproof (also can be a rain proof) on top.

Kilimanjaro has designated camping spots on the mountain. The campsites will have twin sharing dorm tents and a dinning tent. We will be pitching 2 person alpine tents which would have thick ground mattresses, along with warm sleeping bags.
