Gulabi Kantha is located at a height of 12,431 feet (3,789 meters) above the sea level. The 360-degree view of the surrounding mountain peaks, including Bandarpoonch peak, Kalindi Sirkala, Shivalik mountains, and Chaukhamba peaks, adds to the overall experience of visiting Gulabi Kantha.
Gulabi Kantha meadow offers a breathtaking panoramic view of the sunrise and sunset. The meadow is approximately 2.5 kms in length and 1.5 kms wide, making it a spacious area to explore. Aside from the scenic views, Gulabi Kantha is also home to a wide variety of flora and fauna. This untouched paradise is lesser-known to the trekking communities in India, even though it lies close to Dodital. The name Gulabi Kantha comes from the abundance of blooming pink flowers of Rhododendron in the region. The entire trek becomes adorned in pink during the season, truly a sight to behold.
About the area
The base village of Gulabi Kantha is Nisni which is situated at a distance of approximately 16 kms before Yamunotri, in the state of Uttarakhand. The Char Dham lies in Uttarakhand giving it immense religious significance and thus Uttarakhand is also called Dev Bhoomi (Gods abode).
